Braden River’s Courtney Mirabella has been named the 2013 Class 7A Softball Player of The Year by the Florida Dairy Farmers Association.
The state’s strikeout queen, who many consider the greatest prep pitcher in Manatee County history, received 104 points, comfortably outdistancing the competition.
The N.C. State signee tied for the state lead with 288 strikeouts, but her strikeout per inning ratio of 1.97 strikeouts per inning dwarfed everyone else's, according to MaxPreps.com.
The right-hander also topped the state with a 0.24 ERA, surrendering only five earned runs. She finished her career with 945 strikeouts and is a two-time Bradenton Herald All-Area Player of The Year.
As a player of the year, Mirabella is one of eight finalists for the 2013 Florida Dairy Farmers Miss Softball award.
