The Lakewood Ranch Mustangs are state golf champions again.
The Mustangs shot a 301 team total on Wednesday to finish with a two-round score of 610, three shots better than second-place Ponte Vedra, in the Class 2A state tournament at the Deer Island Country Club.
Ramsey Touchberry led the way Wednesday with a 1-over-par 73, but classmate Danny Walker turned in the top two-round score of 152.
Lakewood Ranch won the Class 2A state crown last season, finishing with a 103-0 record. The Mustangs lost Connor Baldwin, Kyle Benson and Hunter Sagar and dropped a few matches along the way this season. But Walker, who won the individual state title as a freshman, and Touchberry brought along a new cast of players, including senior Ben Boulch and newcomers Spence Schultz and Luke Miller.
