The third and final day of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft is under way, and two players with local ties are already off the board.
Zach Larson, one of Lakewood Ranch High's top sluggers, went to the Minnesota Twins with the second pick of the 20th round. The outfielder was the 610th selection overall after helping lead the Mustangs to the Class 6A state final four this season.
Austin Chubb, a former All-Suncoast Conference selection at State College of Florida, was selected by the Washington Nationals in the 21st round (654th pick overall). Chubb, a catcher, is a senior at Florida Southern.
In the 27th round, the Baltimore Orioles took Anthony Caronia, a junior shortstop from the University of Tampa who spent his 2011 season with State College of Florida. Caronia went with the 822nd overall pick
