Katy Harris is in elite company at this week's Guardian Retirement Championship at Sara Bay Country Club.
She's the only golfer in this week's field who is also a mother.
Harris took nine years off following her college career due to an injury, and during that time, she gave birth to two children.
Her son Owen is 6 years old and her daughter Emma is 4.
Harris made her return to golf in 2010, and has experienced life on the LPGA Tour as well as the Symetra Tour.
There's one difference between being a mom on the LPGA Tour and one on the Symetra Tour.
"The challenge is the travel, you're gone a lot," Harris said. "There's no child care on the Symetra Tour, so I can't bring the kids with me unless I bring someone with me and then there's really not a whole lot for them to do in a different town without toys and all that. They don't get to come much."
Moving Day
Natalie Sheary, an IMG Academy alum, shot even-par 72 but still gained ground on the field during Saturday's second round.
The round prior to the final round is typically referred to as "moving day," as players jockey for a prime spot to grab the title the next day.
And in Sheary's case, she leaped 20 spots at one point on Saturday before falling back a bit. At one stage, she was 2-under par through 10 holes, but a couple miscues with the putter brought her back down a touch.
"I thought it was a really good scoring day," said Sheary, who relocated to Vero Beach from Bradenton. "There were some tough pins out there and it was nice striking the ball pretty well that I felt like I could at least go for some of those."
Sheary did eagle the par-5 17th to get herself to even-par for her round, and jumped from a tie for 24th place to start the day to a share of sixth place at the end of Saturday's action.
Who's on that bag?
Walking beside Hally Leadbetter this week is a familiar face to golf fans worldwide. David Leadbetter's name is synonymous with innovation in golf as he's credited as a forerunner to the necessity of players and swing coaches in today's game.
However, he's also Hally's father and the University of Arkansas sophomore had her dad tote her bag for the first two rounds at Sara Bay Country Club.
The younger Leadbetter, though, won't be playing on Sunday as she missed the cut with an 18-over par 162 total.
All Faiths Day
The second round coincided with the Symetra Tour's partnership with the All Faiths Food Bank. Spectators gained free entry on Saturday with a donation of a non-perishable food item. It's the second consecutive year that the tournament held at Sara Bay has chosen the All Faiths Food Bank as its main charity.
This isn't Europe
Melissa Reid has four victories on the Ladies European Tour, the professional circuit across the pond that is the equivalent to the LPGA here in America. Reid, though, is playing the LPGA Symetra Tour and the Englishwoman had a difficult time navigating the Donald Ross designed greens at Sara Bay.
In two rounds, Reid recorded just four birdies. Meanwhile, her score went the other direction 13 times in 36 holes. That included one double bogey and 12 bogeys.
Consequently, Reid missed the cut with an 11-over par 155 total.
