Former Lakewood Ranch High and Florida State University standout Seath Lauer is off to a solid start at the first stage of PGA Tour Q-School in Pensacola. Lauer fired a first-round 66 to tie for sixth place on Tuesday.
Only the top 18 players and ties advance to the second stage next month.
"Well the time of Q-School is all about being patient and managing mistakes," Lauer said in a text message. "(Tuesday) my goal was to put myself in a good position and I did that by patience. I never got ahead of myself and stayed in the present very well. Three more days of that mentality is what I am looking for this week."
Other locals in the field include Bradenton's Sean Jacklin, Lakewood Ranch resident Adam Hogue and University of Florida and IMG alum Andres Echavarria.
Never miss a local story.
Jacklin is tied for 33rd after a 1-under par 69, while Hogue (T-13, 67) and Echavarria (T-21, 68) are in good position following the first round at Pensacola Country Club.
