Wyatt Mathisen’s two-run homer in the top of the seventh inning broke a 1-1 tie in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday and gave the Marauders a 3-1 victory over the Stone Crabs. Chase Simpson had led off with a walk to start the inning, and Nick Neumann came in to pitch a scoreless seventh inning for his fifth save of the season.
Bradenton got a run in the third on a homer by Elvis Escobar, his third of the season. Stephen Tarpley got his third win of the season.
Bradenton completed the doubleheader sweep with a 4-1 win in the second game, scoring all its runs in the top of the third inning when Jeff Roy stole home and Chase Simpson hit a three-run homer.
