TAMPA 3, BRADENTON 2
The Marauders dropped a second straight game to Yankees as Tampa starter Chance Adams (5-0) pitched 5-plus innings of no-hit baseball and allowed only two baserunners, one by a walk and one on an error.
Adams, who entered the game with the most strikeouts in the Florida State League, struck out a season-high 10 Marauders. Miguel Andujar (3-for-4, RBI) put the Yankees up 1-0 with an RBI single in the top of the third. The Yankees got their second run in the top of the fifth when Bo Thompson (0-for-2, BB, HBP, 2 R) scored on a wild pitch. Colten Brewer (2-7) went 6 2/3 innings, allowing 9 hits, 3 runs (2 earned), and no walks with 4 strikeouts.
Cole Tucker (1-for-4) broke up the no-hitter with one out in the bottom of the sixth off reliever Joey Maher. In the top of the seventh, Wes Wilson (2-for-4, RBI) hit an RBI single to left field that gave the Yankees a 3-0 lead. Connor Joe (1-for-4, RBI) put the Marauders on the board with an RBI single in the bottom half of the inning.
The Marauders pulled it to within one thanks to a solo home run by Jordan Luplow (1-for-4, HR, 2 R) in the bottom of the ninth.
