ST. PETERSBURG -- Kevin Cash is coming home.
Cash, a graduate of Gaither High School in Tampa, is the successor of Joe Maddon, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports and Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times.
Cash, who has never been a manager at any level, was most recently the bullpen coach under Terry Francona in Cleveland for the past two seasons.
Like Maddon, Cash was a catcher in his playing days. He caught for eight seasons in the big leagues, including with Tampa Bay in 2005.
Cash and Kansas City Royals bench coach Don Wakamatsu were the final two candidates who were interviewed by general manager Matt Silverman this week.
