The 2017 Solheim Cup isn't coming to Manatee County.
The LPGA Tour announced Monday that the biennial match play tournament that is the women's equivalent of the Ryder Cup, was awarded to Des Moines Golf and Country Club in Des Moines, Iowa.
The Concession Golf Club in East Manatee was a finalist in a long bid process, and was attempting to become the first Florida host since the inaugural event in 1990.
The tournament rotates between American and European courses every two years, with Germany playing host in 2015.
This past August, the Solheim Cup was held in Parker, Colo., where Europe won for the first time on American soil.
Former IMG Academy standout Paula Creamer and Bradenton native Jessica Korda represented Team USA, while Jodi Ewart Shadoff, who relocated to the area following her career at the University of New Mexico, represented Europe.
Earlier this summer, officials said the economic boon to the winning venue would net roughly 100,000 or more spectators for the Solheim Cup week.
