It was a tough year on the gridiron for the Sunshine State’s big three, but they all have a chance to make a run at the NCAA championship on the basketball court.
Florida, Florida State and Miami all qualified for the NCAA Tournament and will begin their march toward a championship later this week.
The Gators are the No. 6 seed in the East Region and will open play Thursday in Detroit. But Florida will have to wait to find out its first opponent. The Gators will face the winner of a Tuesday play-in game between No. 11 seeds St. Bonaventure and UCLA.
The Seminoles are the No. 9 seed in the West Region and will open against Missouri on Friday.
The Hurricanes are a No. 6 seed in the South Region and will open against Loyola-Chicago on Thursday.
Start times for first-round games are expected to be released Sunday night.
The No. 1 seeds in the tournament are Virginia (South), Villanova (East), Kansas (Midwest) and Xavier (West).
