Keenan Wooten, Bradenton City Council, Ward 5
First, thanks to the thousands of voters in the city of Bradenton that I have met during this campaign, people who have been advocating for change.
My opponent in this race voted against many of his constituents who opposed the City Council’s decision to take over Bradenton’s CRAs, including the CCRA that served the Ward 5 area. My opponent has since become the chair of the new CRA board, and has led it to have less of a presence than ever before.
And finally, my opponent was among those who posed for pictures with a shovel in his hand years ago, promising a conveniently located grocery store for west and central Bradenton. We’re all still waiting.
My opponent in this race is well-known for “going along,” for passive leadership, which is no leadership at all. He is known for NOT standing up for the people he serves. He even refused to participate in the Manatee Tiger Bay forum, all because of petty email confusion.
Worse yet, he’s made a habit of calling names, spreading untruths and behaving irresponsibly in this campaign.
These are just some of the reasons why we need new leadership in the Ward 5 seat. My opponent’s difficult attitude and lack of concern for the issues in his ward shows how a long tenure can lead to a disconnected incumbent.
I believe Ward 5 deserves better than it’s had. I believe the city of Bradenton deserves better from its Ward 5 representative than it’s had. I am ready to serve, read to be the hardest working city council member Bradenton has ever had.
Vote for me, Keenan Wooten, if you want to refocus our priorities on what Bradenton really needs, revitalize Ward 5 with new energy, and reconnect all parts of our great city. Vote for me, for a smart and united approach to our future.
