“United we stand, divided we fall.”
These words, familiar to all Americans, have been attributed to the Greek storyteller Aesop, are found in several passages in the Bible, were written into John Dickinson’s pre-revolutionary war song (”The Liberty Song”), stand as the motto of Kentucky, are on the Missouri flag, and was a repeated motto during WW II.
The words were never more true. It is easy to stand together during the “good” times; it is essential to stand together during times like these that try men’s souls. Stand up and be counted, stand united!
