The commentary written by Mr. Frank Bruni of the New York Times ("A Foxy, rowdy GOP debate," Herald, Aug. 8) was a little over the top.
I am a Republican and did not enjoy this farce at all. I am totally ashamed of the three Fox panelists and their inane, insulting questions; they were pretty close to "defamation" in some cases.
Being a panelist does not give one the right to try to trip up the debater with barbs. It is to find out the true thinking of those we are asking to give of themselves to become the president of the United States.
Mr. Bruni put in his two cents agreeing with the Fox crew to go after Donald Trump. I was appalled by Bret Baier's first question, as the writing was on the wall to substantiate this. Megyn Kelly licked her lips on her questions and it showed she thoroughly enjoyed being nasty.
Never miss a local story.
"She was his appointed slayer," as Mr. Bruni put it.
Chris Wallace showed his colors too many times. I think Fox could have chosen better representatives than these three. The way this debate was conducted it was all about getting rid of Trump; all the other candidates were superfluous.
In my estimation, it was shameful. I will never tune into any programs run by these panelists as long as I have a choice. Thank you, Mr. Bruni, for bringing that to our attention through your editorial!
