As I watch and read the daily news I am constantly reminded that the entire population is basically a sitting duck for malicious attacks via the most basic of all human needs: air. The stuff we inhale and exhale repeatedly without ever giving it a second thought. That is until something horrific happens to a mass of people.
Such is the case with the "Legionnaires" outbreak recently. Now, all of a sudden the Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) becomes a major issue. What if someone with bad intent was to introduce this or any other type of virus or germ into air conditioned space? Living in a southern clime such as Florida, I would think that the powers that be would be interested in preventing such a situation here instead of waiting for a catastrophe to spur them on.
There is a U.S.-based (and owned) company that manufactures a simple product that can eliminate such a threat. The problem, as I see it, is that it would cost money to do something and the power-people would have to actually find that money. The other option is to sit on their hands, collect their paycheck, and wait for the disaster to happen and then have a reason to raise the tax base or steal from some needed service in the name of righteousness.
I have a system in my home but that doesn't help me when I have to go to the DMV or other government building and sit in that toilet air. If you think AC companies know about this technology, just ask one. Chances are they will babble something about UV lights and duct cleaning. Both Band-Aids on a gash. Sure wish we had leaders with some moxie instead of the cowtowers that claim to have our backs.
Never miss a local story.
