Important notice to all potential 2016 candidates:
Do not get left behind due to the laws of Florida, which restricts potential candidates for office who wish to change party affiliation and do not file their proper paperwork before deadlines.
This notice is specifically for those candidates who may be changing party affiliation and are required to do so per state law as described below, which means before June 20 of this year.
A candidate seeking to qualify as a political party candidate may not have been a registered member of any other political party for 365 days before the beginning of qualifying preceding the general election for which the person seeks to qualify (Section 99.021 F.S.).
Never miss a local story.
There are many instances of candidates who were not permitted to change their party affiliation because they were unaware of the above law and date deadline. If you have questions, call the Independent Party of Florida for answers.
Ernest Bach, State Chairman, Independent Party of Florida Largo
