Congratulations to the new kid on the block -- Charlie Kennedy. At Monday's school board meeting, Mr. Kennedy came up with a solution about conducting a national search or hiring Dr. Diana Greene. Although the board favored a search, the community reacted.
The search is not only costly but not needed. Searches in the past brought us disaster. Dr. Greene has been through the search two years ago.
Has she changed? Yes, she's even better.
Her 28 years in education have been impressive. Her career includes: teacher, senior executive leadership, curriculum development and school administration.
Never miss a local story.
Put that up against Rick Mills' resume. Doesn't fit.
She knows her craft. She has created new programs and helped our school tests rise. She knows her way around Common Core and remediation while some are baffled by them.
Recently our community mourned the loss of former Superintendents Gene Witt and Dan Nolan. Why? Because they were educators and knew their craft.
Dr. Greene is also a quality educator. We wouldn't go to a plumber to get a tune-up for our car.
The information regarding Dr. Green having some rental foreclosures was not necessary. She explained that along with the illness of one of her children.
If we were to check the records of our elected officials, we might find some have more foreclosures than fingers.
Let us as a community give Dr. Greene our full support as we move forward in a positive way.
I envision Dr. Greene to be around for several years.
I'm a former teacher, supervisor and principal. I continue to care about our teachers and students.
