If the Manatee County School Board allows Matthew Kane to resign, they are abdicating their responsibility to keep the children of Manatee County and other counties safe.
Kane has had his day in court and the administrative law judge has ruled that the board is justified in firing both him and Faller after they failed to report suspected child abuse. Mr. Kane is brazen enough to state that he is seeking education-related employment. This is one of the administrators who failed to report the rampant abuses of young females by a popular football coach. He has shown clearly where his priorities lay. He turned a blind eye to the safety of students. What tools could Mr. Kane have to use as bargaining chips?
Taxpayers, ask yourselves what kind of back dealings are going on in this instance. My guess would be that the board is grooming Bob Gagnon to take up a position in the school district once again and they need to clean up his background. It would be hard to convince the public that Gagnon could be a good administrator if he was not aware of what the people he was supposed to be supervising were covering up.
Kane, Faller and Gagnon not only worked together, but went to college together and socialized together. Is the board trying to make a silk purse out of a pig's ear?
