A recent letter was demanding more bicycle paths and sidewalks.
I quote from the Florida Drivers Handbook, page 39: "In Florida the bicycle is legally defined as a vehicle. Bicyclists using a public roadway are considered operators of motor vehicles and are responsible for observing traffic laws."
And on page 74: "Persons riding bicycles or mopeds on a roadway have the same rights, with certain exceptions, and duties as motor vehicle drivers and may be ticketed for traffic violations."
It appears that our law enforcement are not aware of these laws.
Never miss a local story.
Golf carts are not mentioned and yet on Conquistador Drive a traffic light has been installed to allow golf carts to cross the road -- because of IMG clout and someone in the traffic department?
