Have you seen all the large, expensive signs on major roadways? They are funded by those with deep pockets, developers and others, who expect payback for funding election campaigns.
In contrast, Terri Wonder, who is opposing Carol Whitmore for the Commissioner at Large seat in Manatee County, is running a grassroots campaign, reaching out to individual citizens and neighborhoods.
Terri is a protector of the county's water resources, animals, natural habitat and neighborhoods, which is important for the quality of life for citizens. She also has stood for keeping high-density development away from coastal high-hazard areas and flood zones.
Does development keep taxes low and pay for itself, so as not to devalue existing homes? The answer is a resounding NO. Terri is not afraid to speak to things that have gone wrong in the county and is eager to work on solutions.
Unlike her opponent, Terri's advanced degrees, diverse experiences and background give her unique perspectives on citizen and community needs, regardless of party.
It's time for a change. It is important for all citizens across the county to get out and vote; and a win for Terri Wonder is a vote for all citizens.
