The administration has it all wrong about the ISIS terrorists. While they do pose a threat, they also are providing a remarkable opportunity. They have gathered in a specific Mideast spot where we can use them as a live-target shooting gallery to train our drone pilots.
We should already have 20 or more hunter and intelligence drones over the area 24/7; every kill is one less terrorist in the world; what's not to like.
Moreover, the NSA can use the terrorists' self-identification in this area to hone its communication interception and Arabic language skills.
And a further benefit of having the ISIS phenomenon continue is that potential Muslim terrorists from the EU and USA will self-identify when they go there to join their comrades.
Never miss a local story.
Since most of them won't speak Arabic the NSA should be able to locate them through their communications; then the hunter drone pilots can kill them and eliminate any future threat they might pose to western countries.
Another benefit of the live-target shooting gallery concept would be the stationing a squadron of A-10 Warthog aircraft in Baghdad;-- the pilots can hone their skills by hunting down any armor or artillery the ISIS terrorists have obtained from their battlefield successes. These peerless Warthog tank hunters will have little trouble destroying those assets.
Also instead of whining about how Turkey won't stop the ISIS sale of oil, the A-10s can be used to make short work of the pipelines used to move the oil out of ISIS-controlled areas. That will put an abrupt end to that source of funding.
Again, the ISIS terrorists are providing us with a wonderful opportunity to train our military personnel. The administration should cut the coalition building delay and move out now to take advantage of it.
