I have truly tried not to get upset with armed guards at schools. However, after reading the Sept. 20 paper, the private company hired by Superintendent Rick Mills is already out of control.
Two have past arrests. One of the leaders of the company was arrested for domestic battery. Nice.
Then another of these private security guards has a stun gun on him as he patrols. What in the world is wrong with Rick Mills, other than the fact he should never have been hired.
This present school board is not much better. They signed a three-year contract for $3 million before they knew if the private security could carry guns.
Never miss a local story.
What is wrong with Manatee County deputies? At least they have the proper training.
Why in the world would the board choose a Sarasota private firm. This is another reason to replace the Manatee County School Board. Everyone reads a contract before it is signed. Do your homework.
This whole mess needs much more scrutiny than it has been given. Problem is the contract has already been signed, by people who claim to have known nothing. Get rid of them all!
Mills and the present school board claim it did this to save money. Is it saving money to justify Mill's salary and the fact the board members want new iPads.
Please remember this on election day. This board is a joke!
