I am a new home owner in Tidewater Preserve located at Interstate 75 and State Road 64. Now, right after I have moved in, the Manatee County commissioners are telling us that there will be a water park, with noise, traffic and a roller coaster right next door.
Exit traffic from 75 to 64 is already bad now; this means a nightmare gridlock.
Why are the commissioners throwing the many nearby Northeast Bradenton homeowners under the bus for a for-profit water park? Why is a non-profit agency being used to help others make money?
Commissioner Michael Gallen says he is in favor of it because his 7-year old wants it. Commissioner Robin DiSabatino says her husband will be first in line. How selfish!
What about the Northeast Bradenton homeowners?
Their comments are before any traffic impact study, before any environmental impact study, and before any noise impact study.
The commissioners are publicly on record in favor of the project without having done any due diligence. Ignoring the process of due diligence and pledging support without it is a clear dereliction of duty by the commissioners.
The residents of Manatee County deserve better.
If county commissioners want a water park for their kids and husbands, they should have it built a half mile from their homes and let the residents of Northeast Bradenton live in peace with beautiful Tom Bennett Park close by.
