Floridians get huge tax increase!
I have written via email, snail mail and telephoned Rep. Vern Buchanan's office and had no response.
All Floridians will get the largest tax increase in the states' history in 2014. Only several other states in America have no state income tax.
Since those states primarily finance their government with sales taxes and because states that have a state income tax are allowed to deduct their state income tax from their federal income tax, the taxpayers in states that have only a sales tax have been allowed to deduct that sales tax from their federal income tax.
The president, i.e. Congress, must annually reassert the right to deduct sales tax receipts from federal incomes taxes. They have not done so. And Vern Buchanan does not respond to questions on this issue!
The average family deduction for sales tax expenses exceeds $4,000 per year. So unless Congress acts, the citizens of those other states will bear the brunt of the largest tax increase in American history.
Just think about it: Gasoline has a federal excise tax, state and county tax totaling over 0.80 cents per gallon, in just taxes. Everything you buy has state and county sales tax in various percentages depending on location.
Because Harry Reid is from Nevada, one of the states that has no income tax, he would allow the bill to be voted on in the Senate. Because of the coming 2014 mid-term elections, the president would not oppose.
Please contact Vern Buchanan at Vern Buchanan, 2104 Rayburn HOB, Washington D.C., 20515 and request his action!
