I would like to add to Sue Vecchio's comments in Sunday's Letters to the Editor regarding the entrance to the new Thornton's gas station at the corner of 48th Street Court East and SR 64.
I, too, believe we were misled about the entrance to the station. There are "no left turn" signs but they are posted BEFORE the actual lane that drivers use to enter the station.
I can think of no other development that has a major gas station/convenience store with access from the same road used as an entrance/exit to a housing development.
This cannot have been permitted by the City of Bradenton unless no one in planning and zoning actually reviewed the permit application.
We were assured that drivers would access the station from SR 64, and that was the reason an additional right-hand lane was added to eastbound SR 64.
I also feel that our homeowner's association didn't perform due diligence when all the plans were being laid out.
I, too, have had to stop when entering Braden River Lakes to wait for a driver making an illegal left turn and I can almost guarantee that there will be a serious accident in the near future.
