This is an open letter to thank Barbara Angelucci for her dedication to Manatee County. She studies all the environmental issues of our government.
She explains the vote taken at the Aug. 6, 2013 Board of County Commissioners meeting concerning Long Bar Pointe and Commissioner Carol Whitmore's so-called swing vote.
I remember another meeting of the Tourist Development Council. Chairperson Whitmore did another so-called swing vote to oust former Holmes Beach Commissioner Sandy Haas-Marten.
Haas-Marten was a dedicated commissioner and served decades on the TDC. She was intensely loyal to Whitmore. It was a shock.
Recently, I read that Commissioners Whitmore and Betsy Benac also wanted to oust Commissioner Robin DiSabatino from the Republican Club of Manatee County due to a photo of DiSabatino (R) and Terri Wonder (D) together.
Whitmore needs to remember former Commissioner Pat Glass (R) endorsing former Commissioner Gwen Brown (D), writing articles in this publication and fundraising for Brown.
Commissioner Whitmore's pattern to rid individuals and an organization that disagree with her, such as Commissioner DiSabatino, Save Anna Maria Inc., Robert Van Wagoner (former mayor of Holmes Beach), former Commissioner Joe McClash and Haas-Marten reeks of abuse of power.
