What would you do if you were in our predicament?
We came here 32 years ago to retire. When we signed into Colony Cove, no one told us that they would ever go up on the rent. We live on a fixed income.
Well, then they sold it to an investment firm and every year the rent has gone up by 5 percent. It is now out of sight and here we thought that we would be able to relax and grow old with no worries.
My husband is 95 and I am 90 years old. The rent has gotten so high and it is too expensive for us.
You might say, put the house up for sale. Well, people will not buy knowing the rent will be going up 5 percent every year! There are now a lot of houses for sale and no one buying.
Some people have been grandfathered in and never have to pay these increases. Our rents are all different. How can we stop big businesses from taking over and doing this to us?
What can we do?
