This being an election year is a great time for our seniors to band together whether you are Republican, Democrat or independent to demand a better increase on our Social Security checks, or as the tea party bunch calls it "entitlements."
This 1.5 percent increase they are already planning to give us is a joke. They say they base it on the low inflation we have.
Yeah, right! Prices for chocolate, beef, pork, fruit, milk, taxes and insurance (car, property, health) have gone up, just to name a few. So where do these overpaid, underworked politicians get their figures?
The only thing that has gone down a little is gas, but it's an election year and the oil companies want to keep the flunkies who give them all their corporate welfare and tax breaks in office.
Never miss a local story.
These politicians may be getting a lot of campaign contributions (legal bribes) from special interests, but we the voters still decide who gets elected and who gets booted from these cushy jobs.
Time to do some checking up on who really has all their constituents interests at heart or just those who give them all that money.
Check who contributes to their campaigns and how they voted in office! And quit listening to all those negative campaign ads attacking the other guy!
This is a great time to contact your representatives and see where they stand on these small Social Security increases and many other issues concerning you.
After all, we are keeping these millionaire clowns in steak and lobster while a lot of seniors are deciding what the cheapest dog food they can find to eat, just to survive another year.
Above all, vote and vote wisely.
