A recent article by Herald writer Marty Clear about Crossroads United Methodist Church in Sarasota and Pastor Bob Suter certainly explains what a church should be.
In the article Pastor Suter says that his church has beautiful stained-glass windows, etc., but this is not the church. He goes on to say that the church is the people, and it is meaningless having a church that exists to pay its bills and preach messages that are already well known to the congregation.
His church exists to feed hungry people and address community issues. All people are welcome here and just one visit will enlighten you as to the real purpose of religion, which is to advance fellowship and to worship Jesus.
