Where have all the tomatoes gone?
There was a time tomatoes were king. Florida tomatoes were ripe, juicy and delicious. They were plentiful along roadside stands. Now they are just fond memories.
Fields are planted and plowed up before a tomato ripens. Stores and restaurants buy and sell and serve inedible tomatoes. No one seems upset or even cares.
Strawberries are large, attractive, but tasteless. A case of "great expectations" turning into "Les Miserables," and we're settling for mediocrity.
Never miss a local story.
I repeat, where have all the tomato lovers gone?
