This is in regards to the article on the new psychiatric facility in Bradenton (Herald, Aug. 2). I just want to clarify that employees are not just transferring to this new facility. We are going under a Behavioral Health Division of UHS, which is an entirely different pay and benefit structure of UHS.
As a result, we are losing our jobs due to huge pay cuts and total restructuring of our scheduled times, days and shifts to work, and an increase in the cost of our benefits.
New employees are being hired at entry-level nursing salaries even though most of our nurses have been working here 15 to 30 years, and there currently is a great behavioral health team in place.
This has greatly affected the lives of our dedicated employees here, including our physicians, who were not offered jobs and now have to scatter all over the state looking for jobs on the east and west coasts of Florida; and a closing of our Out Patient Program as well as Partial Hospitalization Program, resulting in our patients having to search for alternate follow-up care.
Never miss a local story.
