Myra Jones' latest letter was headlined "Private sector not the solution to nation's ills." Apparently she thinks that unfettered government control of every aspect of our lives is the answer to every problem that we face today. Without the private sector there would be no government. The government does not produce any goods and does not generate any income. Basically all the government does is collect taxes and spend money.
In her letter, Jones again denounces charter schools. Internet research proves that they are no better or worse on average than public schools. Next, she claims that our privatized or "mercenary" army doesn't work well and costs 10 times as much as a regular one to operate. Where in the world did that idea come from? We have one U.S. Army led by our esteemed Commander in Chief, President Obama. Case closed on that issue.
Then she condemns "trickle-down economics." Again, without free enterprise creating jobs, producing goods and paying taxes, there would be nothing but a barren economic landscape. Actually, I have always wanted to have someone explain what trickle "up" economics would be all about and how that inane concept could possibly work.
The rest of her letter is a repeat of denouncing our combined economic and political system which somehow has managed to create the greatest country on Earth. By the way, Utopia doesn't exist. God Bless America!
