This letter is in reply to Linda Schaich's excellent letter regarding the race between Karen Carpenter and Frank Brunner.
Another letter by Randy Tucker is not worth replying to as it is all nonsense, but Schaich is right on the money about Frank Brunner. He is what I call a professional politician who is always on the lookout for a better deal to drink from the public trough. His priority is to get the $40,000 annual pay, plus the perks that go with being a member of the school board.
As Schaich pointed out, Brunner tried to get a better-paying job as a county commissioner but was defeated, so here he is back at the trough looking to get his old job back.
Don't buy all the baloney about wanting to be a concerned citizen and do his duty. The prize is the salary and maybe another crack at a better-paying job. He reminds me of Charlie Crist who never completed any position and is always looking for a better job such as a senator, vice president etc., and did not care how many times he changed parties to get the job. Brunner's wife is also employed by the city of Palmetto and they live very well in a lovely home -- not the one-room flat that Brunner rented to show his humility.
Never miss a local story.
The "old boy network" is at play here, when Brunner lost his bid for county commissioner he was given another job in the county.
No, my good citizens, Frank Brunner is the last person you want back in the school board. He is an opportunist and a long-winded, boring speaker who could put you to sleep with his nonsense.
