This letter, I hope, will clear up once and for all comments about the City of Bradenton tampering with the yellow light timing.
It has been said that an investigation showed that cities where shortening the yellow traffic light timing. The City of Bradenton was one of the cities that were grouped together. We responded back in 2010 and proved that we did not do that. As usual, it fell upon deaf ears and no comments were made.
Below is a list of the active Red Light Camera installations in the City. By the way, this list is provided to the public on the City Website.
Manatee Avenue East and First Street East -- westbound
Never miss a local story.
First Street West and Manatee Avenue West -- southbound
Sixth Avenue West and First Street -- eastbound
Sixth Avenue East and Ninth Street East -- eastbound
27th Street East and Manatee Avenue East -- westbound
Ninth Street West and Third Avenue West -- southbound
15th Street West and Manatee Avenue West -- eastbound
These intersections are all FDOT-controlled and our Electrical Division has confirmed that our personnel never made any adjustments to the timing of the yellow lights at any of these FDOT-controlled signals. The timing of these lights are mandated and adjusted by FDOT.
