I have a tip for anyone interested in decreasing their use of our county water supply.
I recently purchased and installed a large 55-gallon white barrel from the county. The county gives you the plans and instructions to set up the barrel.
The instructions tell you how to insert the copper fittings for the outlet hose. My son and his wife cut the wood for the platform. They then cut the downspout to the proper length, cut a hole in the barrel and inserted the down spout.
It is amazing. One short shower fills the barrel. I had enough rain water to water all my plants and flowers.
Never miss a local story.
