In one Manatee County school district race, you have a choice between Frank Brunner and Karen Carpenter. Karen has shown herself to have courage, commitment, competence and integrity. Karen stayed the course with an administration who denied access to information, launched attacks on anyone who dared to question and created a culture of dysfunction and corruption. She has worked hard to initiate the remarkable turnaround that we are now experiencing in the school district
Brunner is homesteaded in a $350,000 home in Palmetto but pretends to live in a one-room flat in a poor section of town. This shows a lack of integrity and honesty.
Do you really believe that he is willing to live separate from his family for his entire four year term?
Brunner and his compatriots hired Tim McGonegal and Jim Drake, the toxic architects that caused all of the financial problems in this district.
Brunner served on a board with Harry Kinnan, Larry Simmons and Walter Miller. Those same negligent board members, with Brunner, are the people that cut the academic day and started the academic plummet for our district ranking.
He attended West Point did not complete his five-year service obligation. Lack of commitment.
Brunner was on the school board from 1996 to 2006 when he again did not complete his term of office. He quit two years short to pursue a higher paying position on the Board of County Commissioners. He did not get elected. Again, lack of commitment.
What better proof that the school district is not his priority.
Please be smart voters, do not let the old guard back into the school district and the largest budget in Manatee County. They have a proven record of being poor stewards of your money and student education.
Let Karen Carpenter continue in the recovery plan.
