Councilman Gene Gallo, please quit defying state law and take down the red light cameras that were installed prior to 2010.
I have never received a red-light camera ticket.
The people of this city are disgusted that our leaders are talking out of both sides of their collective mouths. We were told back in 2010 that these cameras were being installed to save lives not to collect revenue.
Then it turns out that Bradenton had turned the time down on all of its yellow lights to less than the state's mandated minimums ... and cried all the way to the governor's mansion saying there was not enough money to turn them all back after the people found out what was done.
Now you want to sit there and act like the only people that are against this are the people who have received tickets. That inference is false.
While I do not think society can stop the onward march of technology, the people of this country are getting fed up with our so-called leaders who do nothing other than make flippant or canned statements.
Quit thinking that just because people are too busy trying to put food on the table in a state that cannot provide affordable health care to its citizens that we all have the time or inclination to do your job for you.
The council admitted that this does not even make the city that much money.
