On May 10 we held our 22nd National Association of Letter Carriers "Stamp Out Hunger" food drive. Last year we collected 1,940 tubs of food -- this year, 2,330 tubs of food.
All of the food we collected went to St. Joseph's food pantry on 26th Street West in Bradenton.
There are a few people I would like to thank for making this year's food drive so successful.
First, all of the letter carriers for putting out that extra effort to collect all that food and deliver the mail at the same time. Second, all the other postal employees (clerks, supervisors, etc.) that helped with this year's food drive.
Third, all the drivers who helped pick up the food from the carriers and the post offices and get it over to St. Joseph's. Fourth, Enterprise Rent-a-Car for getting all those pickup trucks for us to use.
And finally and most importantly, I want to thank the citizens of Bradenton for being very generous and donating more food than last year, helping fill the empty shelves of the food pantry. My sincerest thanks to you all.
