Certainly the May 3 letter from Marlene Galla deserves a reply. She is apparently interested in interpretations, which are usually generalities at best.
"Just the facts, ma'am" and they are clearly printed in the Florida Drivers Handbook, available free for the asking.
The handbook clearly states that a right turn is permissible in Florida after a complete stop! No quibbling.
How many near misses does it take to get the point across? As far as opinions go, if one feels strongly about having to make the full stop, they should make a complaint to the proper agency in Tallahassee and not expect any action from their letter to the newspaper.
Never miss a local story.
Possibly, the law could be changed with enough backing in the Legislature but I don't envision this becoming fact! After all, this rule is for your own safety as well as others.
The law is the law, is clear and many of us are tired of hearing about it. If you don't like the rules, initiate action to change it, don't just complain about it ... and please, be careful.
Just think how much more dangerous it will be with potheads on the road legally!
