In a recent Herald story Manatee County school board member Bob Gause sounded like a member of the Bradenton Housing Authority when he said, "When the board spends money against the superintendent's recommendation, that would be on the board."
Mr. Gause fails to hold himself accountable for his actions, including inaction, as a school board member.
As a member of the Board of Trustees of a public educational institution, I am accountable for what I have done and didn't do.
As a board with two different presidents, we changed budgets and policies of both. We deleted budget items and added others. We changed policy by deleting current policies and adding new ones.
Why does Bob Gause as a school board member think he is exempt from his accountability?
