Finally a government official admits it.
IRS Commissioner John Koskinen told a House subcommittee that $4 billion in fraudulent tax refunds were filed over the last year. Attorney General Eric Holder said that the "scale, scope and execution of these fraud schemes" has grown substantially.
This is sad and unacceptable!
Assistant Attorney General Kathryn Keneally, who heads the Justice Department's Tax Division, said refund fraud remains a serious concern but that authorities are "turning a corner" in their understanding of the crime and their ability to track down and prosecute fraudsters.
Never miss a local story.
"We're getting more and more sophisticated about how to catch it, how to stop it and how to prosecute it as we go on," she said.
I am sorry, but "turning a corner" on tax fraud, this has been going on for years and they say oh well, only $4 billion dollars lost.
That is taxpayers' money and somebody in our government needs to be held accountable.
I would like to ask Eric Holder and the rest of our government officials: Why are you allowing people to steal our monies?
It is past time to allow theses things to happen; it's time for total government accountability of we the people's money!
