I like reading the Herald's letters to the editor; very interesting subjects. I am encouraged to read David Altenbach's letter "Sentence too light for driver who killed 3."
Hurrah for you, David. I feel the same way you do. I am 80 going on 81 and I wouldn't want a license anymore if I did what she did in innocence.
They say as we grow old we lose some capabilities and are not always aware of this, so I feel like you David. Her license should have been permanently revoked.
It seems Florida is very lax on drivers license. They can be renewed by mail with no eye exam, hearing exam, or reaction time capabilities test.
I would not want to kill or hurt anyone because the license bureau didn't do testing after a certain age. Thank you, David, for being honest on this score.
I hope I never drive if I'm not capable; and testing is a sure way to find out.
