Another large truck accident this morning, April 11, on I-75 -- among several in the past few months connected to tractor-trailers and other large vehicles.
Apparently, for too many drivers of cars and trucks, 70 mph is considered minimum and therefore flying at 90 mph is even better.
Last year, I saw a tractor-trailer clip an older gentleman's car on Manatee Avenue and continue as fast as he could to I-75 toward Tampa. I stopped to ensure the gentleman was OK and called the state police.
Some states I have lived in had lower speed limits for large vehicles. Why not Florida? Enforce a 55 mph speed limit for vehicles over a certain weight and watch the accident stats go down on I-75, not to mention the traffic tie-ups related to such. Any takers?
