I am writing in response to the article and multitude of letters regarding a woman and her two dogs that have been recently euthanized. I agree that I wondered myself about the boy who was bitten by these dogs, and what exactly that side of the story is in relation to this situation. But for whatever reason, this was not published.
Without knowing the other side, one can imagine that it may range from the boy being completely innocent to provoking the dogs. We simply do not know. It is odd that normally calm dogs would attack someone for no reason.
I personally feel that it is nice to know there are people out there who have compassion for other living things besides human beings. There are many people who do feel that pets are as important as humans, and most times our pets have more positive qualities than people.
It was written in a recent letter that animals do not have souls, but this has not been proven. How do we know?
I do not think that the Herald is putting dogs in front of humans, and is showing that there are people out there rallying for what they believe in, whether it is for humans or animals.
People need more compassion. Obviously some think too often instead of feel, and that is a shame.
