A brilliant National Rifle Association solution to reducing gun deaths in the U.S. is to arm everyone so that ordinary citizens can prevent killings in public.
The NRA slogan, "The best way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun," says it all.
Well, that approach failed tragically at the Fort Hood Army Base for the second time in five years. Since 2009, 16 people have been shot to death and another 44 wounded there!
This is occurring where there are plenty of weapons and hundreds of soldiers trained to used them.
But the National Rifle Association claims armed teachers and gun-toting grandparents will get it done properly when a determined terrorist or psychopath enters a school or a mall with assault rifles and mega-clips, which the NRA defends their right to own.
A more likely outcome will be the bad guy's shooting victims added to the deaths of many innocent bystanders, caught in a cross-fire between untrained citizens.
Let's extend our heartfelt thanks to the NRA for another great idea.
