I have always had my doubts about people who rarely ever crack a smile. Two such people come to mind: Fidel Castro and Vladimir Putin.
Putin, with his long-winded, nose-to-the-grindstone speeches, and Castro showed no lighthearted emotional expressions that I can recall.
At the Sochi Winter Olympics, Mr. Putin, in all his glamour, was always shown as stern-faced and bulletproof, even while acknowledging the Russian athletes.
The bottom line is this: Never trust a man or woman who can't crack a smile even in the most rewarding of circumstances.
Never miss a local story.
Castro and Putin: two peas in a impregnable pod.
