I am writing in response to Ardith Heemskerk’s letter in Sunday’s Herald (“Be wary of aggressive air conditioning services”). It would be nice if we could put these thieves’ business names in the paper so others will not be ripped off.
Earlier this year we had to call for service on our air conditioner, which had quit working. They were the ones we had install a new unit a couple years ago.
The tech came in to introduce himself, then went out back to check our unit. Now the best news: He said we had to have the motor replaced and it would cost us $350 to $400.
While debating what we should do, I remembered my son was coming from New York in a week so we told him we would think about it. When my son came, he checked it out and bought a part for $12 to fix it.
It is still working nine months later. Before he left, he handed us a bill for $93.
