I hope that the article Saturday about downtown Bradenton had misquotes for both Vice Mayor Patrick Roff and Dave Gustafson, executive director of the Downtown Development Agency. Are they really serious that the lights are timed so people spend two extra minutes transiting the city?
If this applies to 1,000 cars per day, and I am sure that figure is very low, that means 2,000 minutes, or 33.33 hours, are wasted each day. To say nothing of the fuel being wasted and creating a hot spot in the downtown area.
There are a lot of ways to change downtown to attract more people. Slowing traffic flow is not one of them. I hope both of these obviously incompetent men are in the process of writing their resignations.
