Regarding Manatee County's school system funding and academic ratings lower than expected, I have a suggestion. Every year since we retired here 11 years ago, the academic ratings have been modest, and financially underfunded. By year 2015 there was document evidence that hundreds of thousand dollars had already disappeared. Accounting records were a jumble and no one was held accountable. The long-term superintendent retired.
It is time to replace all of the hold-over board members with a new team of dedicated educators to help kick off a whole new program designed to make make Manatee County's schools the best improved schools in Florida.
A fresh start with new blood, new enthusiasm, pride, nonpolitical and campaigning financed only individual contributions. Make this a publicized program with a goal. Tax payers might support this.
