How many unnecessary deaths will occur before legislators, those who have sought and won a position to create effective laws, do their duty to the people of America by making it safe to lead life normally without fear of being gunned down? Do members of Congress value their constituents, family, friends, children so little that they would turn their backs callously on the issue of their protection? The stakes are life or death. Congress has the mandate and the power to enact lasting change. Simply put, it's their job.
We implore members to do what is courageous and right regardless of whether it is an expedient career choice. Stand up to the NRA and those who oppose gun control. For when careers end and status has waned, it will be less troubling to look in the mirror and find that the only face staring back is your own and not those left dead in the wake of a horror that you might have helped prevent, but didn't.
