How can Gov. Rick Scott leave the position of lieutenant governor open for almost 10 months after the abrupt resignation of his first one? Are his fellow Republicans afraid of associating that closely with a governor who holds miserable ratings in voter surveys, thus fearful of their own political futures?
Or, should Scott fail to get re-elected, is the prospect of a job that lasts only through the end of this year a deal-killer? Who would resign from an elected post with a strong chance of re-election to take a potentially dead-end job?
No savvy politician would touch this. Now the governor is being sued to force him to appoint someone, anyone.
